This is the first post on Montagraph and lets start with the idea of Montagraph site and how it is born. Montagraph as a word is originated from the slogan: "MONtage and TAG your photoGRAPH" , that is, montagraph is product of this process... In short it is about playing with and editing photos, graphics, not necessarily face photomontage. It is ubiquitous in the sense that it provides a new user experience and full control over your photo montages(=montagraphs). Even if user is not interested in photomontage, the user can play with its image editing tools and create his/her own gallery.

The story behind Montagraph is a very romantic one : It all began two years ago, when i wanted to give my girlfriend a romantic and unique gift for new year which will make her smile and remind me. For this reason, i decided to design a calendar from her photo montages, it took a lot of time since i could not find enough templates and easy way to create photomontages, not even in desktop applications. There came the sparkle, the insipiration of Montagraph project. (For readers, who wonder what happened after my girlfriend took my calendar via mail, she was totally shocked, impressed and called me and said to me that she loved the person who created these photomontages for her, fortunately it was me who created :)

In design time, we tried our best to strictly obey KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle and as a result it had to pass a lot of Mama tests :) In fact, it takes just seconds or at most 1-2 minutes to create a template and the use this template with your photos to create a montagraph. You can even skip creating a template step and use an existing one. But in my opinion, the most powerful idea behind Montagraph is create once, share and use forever (be it photo or be it template). So you can create a new template from existing montagraph/template and use it over and over (especially useful if you want to create photomontages from several photos). Provided it is public, some other users can produce new montagraphs from your montagraphs, in this way montagraphs are possible to get produced collectively.

Being a rock star or posing in front of Leonardo da Vinci or dating with your favorite movie star in couple of seconds are all possible with Montagraph. It is more than a community, it is a nation : the nation of imagination! Montagraph is all about sharing and creativity so let's begin sharing our imagination.
